Jēkabpils has concluded partnership agreements and maintains good relationships with several cities.
Melle in Germany
 Co-operation takes place since 1994. The agreement between the municipalities has been signed in 1998.
The main fields of co-operation are culture, education, social aid.
Melle's German – Baltic friendship society has provided financial support to Jēkabpils art and music school, regularly sends humanitarian aid to the Social Department, hospital and elderly people’s home, Red Cross, Charity Fund and other non-government organisations. An important field of co-operation is an annual international youth summer camp with participation of youth gruops from Mele (Germanya), Torzhoka (Russia) and Jēkabpils (Latvia).
Sokolova -Podlaski in Poland
Co-operation has started in 1987, a co-operation agreement has been signed.

Rokiški in Lithuania
On the 11th March of 2010 in Rokiski (Lithuania) a cooperation agreement between the city of Jekabpils and Rokiski district municipalities was solemnly signed.
Agreement will help to take all opportunities participating in various cross-border projects, also to develop cooperation in economical and business aspects. The cooperation agreement anticipates to maintain systematic exchange of information and experience between both municipalities regarding local activities, socio-economic development, to promote the development of partnerships between education institutions, student meetings, exchange of teachers’ and students’ delegations, to develop contacts between cultural institutions, cultural associations and creative groups, as well as to cooperate on environmental protection, coordinate and support the efforts made towards the environmental pollution.
