Ensemble of Krustpils Castle

Medieval castle built as a fortification on the road Riga-Daugavpils in 1237 by Bishop Nicolaus from Magdeburg. In 1585 the castle falls into the possession of House of Korfs for life-use. Now the castle is the Jēkabpils History Museum.

Located at the crossing of Brīvības and Strūves Streets. Once called the Crown Garden, it is a popular place of recreation of Jēkabpils citizens. In the park there is a Memorial Stone dedicated to Vilhelms Strūve, a professor at Tartu University, an astronomer and a geodesist.

The town community of old-believers exists since the second half of the 17th century, it consisted of refugees of religion-related retaliation coming from Russia. The biggest value of the church is its icons and the prayer books printed after the old-believers' canons.

The congregation was formed after the great fire of 1880, when builders were called from other towns to Jekabpils. The church was built in 1930. During the Soviet regime the cross was taken off and restored in 1991.

The white house or the former manor was in possession of the famous owner of liqueur factory Alfreds Kens until the First World War. Today the Jēkabpils Art School is located here. Park has only such trees that can be found in Latvia.

The park was made in 1966 to protect the city from dust and noise coming from the dolomite quarry. In 1987 after the inundation of the quarry it became a water reservoir of 158 ha with 8 islands. The height of the grand stone is 3.1 m, girth - 19.5 m, weight – 220 tonnes. It is probably the second largest grand stone of Latvia.
